Overview: Described in this paper is an approach that addresses the unresolved challenge of how best to design Decision Support Systems (DSS) of sufficient breadth and depth that construction management personnel will find them responsive to the broad range of functions that they must perform. The authors hypothesize that the development of a DSS that contains a holistic representation of a construction project and that supports as many of the construction project management functions of general contractors or construction managers as possible will greatly increase their adoption of information technology.
