Overview: This paper reports work in progress for designing new training principles that utilize video within skills upgrading processes of welders. The courses will use learning activities that follow the in-company production flow. Each course will contain several ob packages, and each job package is divided into a mixture of theory and hands-on training. The training will be carried out in the workshop, shop or in the laboratory. Video will be used as a pedagogical tool within the theory based packages. Furthermore, the work also includes designing an information base for the dissemination of information with regards to the coordinated use of visual communication and collaboration services for in-company educational settings.
