Overview: The demand for energy has been increasing faster than in the past, and at the same time energy prices are high and volatile, creating a serious problem of energy security for many countries. Considering that most energy is derived from fossil fuels, it is now accepted that increasing energy supply following the projected path is a grave threat to the global climate.
