Overview: For many developing countries, attracting (FDI) has been a key aspect of their outward-oriented development strategy, as investment is considered a crucial element for output growth and employment generation. New trends have reinforced the importance of private investment. Private investment, both domestic and foreign, is viewed as the driving force of the economy. This paper will first analyze the evolution of FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) and the role of (TNCs) (TransNational Companies) in the domestic economies of Argentina, Brazil and Mexico and will then outline the motivations and the different forms of FDI.
