Overview: It is a nearly universally accepted truth that large IT projects often struggle to succeed. It is also a nearly universal truth that the reasons that they struggle are incredibly common - we know them, we can recite them, we advocate solutions for them and yet the problems persist. Using IT projects as a vehicle for organization change is becoming more prevalent, not less. If we are going to manage these differently--and if we are going to manage these successfully--we need to manage them differently. It is these different approaches that this paper will explore.
