Overview: Frustration. That's how Adonis Paz described his situation at a New Orleans area rent-to-own business. He had worked in the industry for six years, and was confident that he could be a manager for his company. But as hard as he tried, a promotion always seemed elusive. Though eager to succeed, the brothers knew that they would need help. At SCORE counselor John Cole's suggestion, the brothers would start the business from their home so that they could use their limited funds for the purchase of inventory. They would also test the market by offering only appliances at the outset. Only if the test succeeded would the brothers then move to the second phase of opening a storefront and expanding their inventory.
