Overview: The hardest part of the overseas project isn't making sure that an employee had a nice place to stay or that he could speak the language. No, the hardest thing is dealing with the culture shock of living and working in a foreign culture. Culture shock is the "Anxiety that results from losing all the familiar signs and symbols of social intercourse" while living and working in another culture. These signs or cues are part of everyday life, and include the myriad signs, gestures, facial expressions or customs that helps to cope with the hustle and bustle of daily life. When a person enters a new culture, these cues are usually not present or so different that they are no longer comprehensible.
