Overview: This paper describes home networks as they move to ever-greater sophistication and the technology that makes it possible. To make IPTV, and other Internet services, available throughout the home, a technology must be set in place that is easy to use, simple to install, low-cost, offers high capacity and does not require the installation of a network infrastructure. Such technology does exist and it offers high capacity for HD and SD video distribution, while carrying other Internet services, is easy to install and requires no new wires. It is Intellon's hybrid powerline/coax network solution that instantly converts existing power lines and coaxial cable installations into high-speed virtual Ethernet networks.
