Overview: Studies of the current state of Czech management testify that strategic management is one of the greatest weaknesses in the management of Czech business when compared with their Western competitors. The aim of the institutional research programme of which partial results related Information Strategy/Information Technology (IS/IT) strategy formulation with focus on methodological aspects are described in this paper, is to research the current state of strategic management in selected businesses, including comparisons of the current situation in the Czech Republic with the situation abroad, and formulating strategies and proposals aimed at improving the current state of affairs.
