Overview: The paper aims to provide a contribution to the development of generic guidelines for the design of mobile data services. Using the exploratory research tool focus groups amongst other methods it examines the mobile alert service "MediAlert" and takes into account both user as well as business requirements. It's presenting first results of a longitudal research project involving a series of field trials of various mobile applications.
