Overview: A backhoe loader is really three pieces of equipment in one: a tractor, a backhoe, and a loader. The tractor consists of the cab where the operator sits and the engine which powers the backhoe loader. On the front, the loader is a large bucket that is used to scoop up dirt, debris, or heavy objects. On the rear of the backhoe loader is the backhoe itself, a large claw-like tool that is used to scoop hard-packed dirt from holes or dig into concrete or other materials too tough to be dug and lifted by human power.
