Overview: In December 2005, the Federal Parliament passed the Work Choices legislation, creating a new industrial relations landscape. The legislation is both expansive and complex. Some of the more significant changes include: simplifying the Australian Workplace Agreement system; removal of constitutional corporations from the state systems; setting of new minimum wages and conditions; and removal of unfair dismissal actions in organisations with fewer than 100 employees.
