Overview: ACPlus offers the most accurate attenuation correction available for PET/CT by providing coverage for an extended CT field of view used to improve PET attenuation correction. In addition to the anatomic information that CT provides, the CT component of PET/CT is employed to correct 511 keV photon attenuation using an attenuation map derived from the CT image. Given the relatively high photon flux CT provides (as compared to 68Ge or 137Cs techniques used for attenuation correction in dedicated PET), CT offers the opportunity for extremely fast and high quality attenuation correction.
