Overview: Click fraud is a term which has lately become so wrapped up with the fortunes of Google that it is best to begin this analysis with a generic definition that could apply across the board. Click fraud is first of all a Web or Internet-related phenomenon. It is a phenomenon within a computerized world where choices are made by clicking with a mouse or tapping with a finger. In 2004 the pay-per-click leader then known as Overture defined click fraud as "Clicks arising for reasons other than the good-faith intention of an Internet user to visit a Web site to purchase goods or services or to obtain information."
