Overview: This paper investigates the recent development of Internet Marketing as an educational subject area, focusing particularly on the relationship between the educational curriculum, professional marketing practice, and the development of associated technical skills. A review of relevant literature in the field of marketing education, with particular reference to Internet Marketing and related topics, was conducted. Course syllabi for Internet Marketing courses were collected and analysed. The paper looks at the rationale behind Internet Marketing courses and compares and contrasts Internet Marketing course designs from a range of different universities. The paper concludes with recommendations for educational practitioners in this field, and with suggestions for further research.
