Overview: The European Commission has strengthened its focus on environment and health issues, not only by providing large amounts of funds to its Member States but also by developing policies and action plans, such as REACH (registration, evaluation, authorization of chemicals), SCALE (Science, Children, Awareness raising, Legislation, Evaluation), the European Union European Environment and Health Strategy and the 2004 - 2010 Environment and Health Action Plan. This paper aims to provide policy-makers with the tools needed to achieve the goals set out in the Action Plan, specifically through national plans.
