Overview: In September 2004, Protiviti Inc., a leading business and technology risk consulting and internal audit firm, commissioned a study to better understand the risk profiles of senior executives with the 1,000 largest companies in the United States. Specifically, the objectives of the study were to identify the nature of the risks undertaken by these corporations, understand the appetite for risk and concerns with regard to senior executives, and understand the current state of these corporations' risk management capabilities, including changes in and ownership of those capabilities.
