Overview: Working in agriculture has long been recognised as a hazardous occupation, with one of the highest fatal injury rates to workers of any industry. It is the only industry that has to accept the constant presence of children around the worksite, since farms are homes as well as workplaces. That means that children living on or visiting farms are at risk from farming activities. Research suggests that many more injuries occur, but are not reported to HSE.
