Overview: This paper has two main sections: the first section presents an examination of characteristics of change and of continuous improvement. It provides a theoretical underpinning for the continuous improvement utilised at CQU. The CQU model for continuous improvement, "Business Process Improvement Model" has been developed taking into account contemporary business process models and methodologies. The second section presents an overview of the application of the Business Process Improvement Model by the Continuous Improvement Unit. A discussion is included of the lessons learnt, improvements made to the model and organisational learning to be implemented to further refine the continuous improvement processes at CQU.
