Overview: If application buyers have to go outside the ecosystem for innovation, the entire concept of enterprise suites could begin to crumble. Innovation is the key concept here, just as it has been in realms of business other than the software industry. The brand owners allow more and more of the product to be built by their suppliers, as has happened in the high-tech, automotive, and A&D worlds. This creates a flow of revenue down the food chain that sustains a healthy ecosystem, and the suppliers become a critical element in product innovation and business efficiency.
