Overview: A recent survey of owners and senior managers of privately held companies indicates that M&A will play a greater role in corporate strategy in the coming years. Conducted by The DAK Group, Ltd. in conjunction with The Whitcomb Center for Research and Financial Services of Rutgers University, the fifth annual survey of middle-market companies also revealed that in implementing their M&A strategies, business owners may have changed their primary motivating factors. The study was conducted in the first quarter of 2004, and includes responses from owners and/or senior managers of 510 privately held companies with the majority of their company revenues ranging from $5 million to $100 million.
