Overview: Performance evaluation provides valuable feedback on how effectively a work group's activities create value - how well a department has used its allocated resources to deliver a targeted level of service. Performance evaluation should be a constructive process. The evaluation must be sufficiently specific to inform and guide the manager and employee what has happened, along with the basic tools to do something about it. Performance deficiencies should be easily identified and documented, improvement plans generated and implemented, and performance reevaluated. Processes enable a paradigm shift in performance measurement.
