Overview: The venture capital industry is globalizing in line with the global economy. According to the 2005 survey, venture capital (VC) firms in every region of the world surveyed plan to significantly increase their cross-border investments over the next five years. The Internet is one factor driving globalization - transcending time zones and geographic boundaries to create a single global market. But on a more fundamental level, the expansion from local to global VC investing simply reflects similar changes in the overall business environment. As companies and markets become increasingly global, the investment opportunities for VC firms naturally do the same.
