Overview: A multi-billion-dollar national pharmaceuticals distributor wanted to capture its share of new business opportunities in an expanding market by targeting national retail drugstore chains and institutional sales, such as hospitals and long-term care facilities. National organizations within the targeted market segments require automated servicing, billing, purchasing reports, and historical information to supplement their own internal sales data. The client's decentralized structure couldn't support this level of customer service. Mercer helped the company centralize purchasing, finance, HR, and IT operations and established new positions, redefined existing roles, and created an appropriate corporate structure to facilitate new work flows. Mercer helped them make the transition to a single technology platform with consistent access and applications to support the entire organization.
