Overview: This paper investigates the role of corporate social responsibility measures in executive compensation by determining if socially responsible CEOs are paid according to their impact to both financial performance to shareholders and their social performance to protecting the interests of the stakeholders that the company also affects. Using a sample of socially responsible companies and CEOs, The author hypothesizes that social performance is positively associated with CEO compensation and negatively associated with salary and stock options. However, the relationship was found to be insignificant after controlling for financial performance measures and CEO factors.
