Overview: Property taxes are one of the major sources of revenue over which local governments exercise control. Indeed, the fiscal survival of government often depends on proper assessment administration. Traditionally, assessors had limited access to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and therefore failed to take advantage of its inherent spatial analysis capabilities. There were limited links between cadastral, land titles or registry, resource, financial and infrastructure databases, and assessment databases. Document imaging, workflow tools, electronic data exchange and tailorable screen views were never considered as part of the assessor's tool kit. NovaLIS Technologies is now making these tools available to satisfy the sophisticated needs of the assessment specialist in today's demanding environment in order to provide the most accurate information and best level of customer service.
