Overview: The papers presented in the volume deal with labour courts, conciliation, inspection, awards implementation as well as alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and lok adalts. They are based on experience and field research and take into account the recommendations of the Second National Commission on Labour. Some of the important developments arising from changes in the workplace scenario include greater emphasis on interest-based negotiations, mutual gains bargaining, win-win negotiations and alternative dispute resolution. There is also a general trend to move away from adversarialism to cooperation which makes disputes and conflict less pronounced than before.
