Overview: Based on the findings of the study presented in this paper, it is evident that all forms of sexual harassment are prevalent on the estates. The coercive labour control mechanisms together with the traditional culture of disadvantaged-discriminated status and insecure employment conditions contribute to further victimize the workers, of whom the majority are women. Of course the nature, degree and frequency of harassment varies due to situational reasons while the 'workplace-homestead interface' aggravates their disadvantaged position. In other words, the indistinct demarcation between the work place and homestead creates a conducive environment for discrimination to take place.
