Overview: The APA believes a formally organised physiotherapy service structure with physiotherapist leadership, management and accountability best enables the provision of state of the art physiotherapy services which contribute to organisational objectives. The APA represents around 10,000 physiotherapists working in all sectors of the Australian health care system. There are APA members who work in management positions in public and private hospitals and community health where they gain first hand experience of organisation change driven by factors such as budget cuts and the various funding models applied across the health care system. The APA therefore understands that organisations in the health care industry face highly complex issues in establishing optimal models of service delivery.
