Overview: Solid waste from End-Of-Use Products (EOUPs) is a growing environmental concern for governments, industry, and the public. Value recovery of EOUPs represents one solution to this problem. For value recovery activities to be successful in the U.S., components and parts recovered through disassembly/demanufacturing operations must be sold at a profit to product remanufacturers and OEMs. Demanufacturers are stand-alone companies that are focused on EOUP inspection, disassembly, cleaning, and sorting. One important research gap associated with demanufacturing is the lack of Inventory Management policies associated with recovered components/recyclate.
