Overview: The Unified Modeling Language (UML) is becoming a standard language for Modeling information systems. Though the UML is also used as an instrument to model business processes, it was originally conceived as a language to describe software intensive systems. DEMO (Dynamic Essential Modeling of Organizations) is a methodology for Modeling business processes that aims at understanding the relationship between information systems and business processes. This paper focuses on the added value of modeling business processes with DEMO prior to information systems modeling with the UML.
