Overview: It is no secret that United States healthcare organizations find themselves in difficult times. These circumstances include government cutbacks in Medicare; the rising cost of malpractice insurance; enhanced, new, and ever-changing regulations that erode organizational creativity; difficulty in attracting and keeping qualified professionals; overworked staff; enforcement and compliance requirements that tend to choke organizational effectiveness.
