Overview: The nuclear controversy just seems to go on and on, flickering in and out of existence, adopting many guises, but never reaching global closure. Lately, the contribution of nuclear power to future energy systems features again in the debate on global warming, or, more generally, sustainable development. As the stakes are high for some global players1, they felt the need to raise their voices in the debate. Hence, a number of reports on the future of nuclear energy started to appear. Interestingly enough however, these reports use widely diverging argumentations to make their point.
