Overview: Communicating effectively as a leader is not only required, it is expected for leading others. However, many leaders miss the mark on connecting with their followers because of lack of interest in other's ideas and opinions, out dated management styles, and the inability to work with others. Great leaders consistently strive to strengthen their interpersonal communication competencies by building and maintaining open, supportive, and collaborative relationships with others in the organization. This project was designed to identify which interpersonal communications skills help improve a leader's success with leading others. Through in-depth interviews with leaders, consultants, and educators the researcher determined that strong interpersonal communication skills continue to be of great importance in the building of trust and confidence in organizational leadership.
