Overview: With several of its top executives edging closer to retirement, leadership development was an issue that gained an increasing ascendancy for the Management Committee of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. The need for succession planning was the initial catalyst that led the bank to the Center for Creative Leadership. After considering its overall objectives, the Management Committee commissioned CCL to develop and administer a leadership development initiative that would resonate throughout the organization. CCL planned for bringing forward new leaders as openings occur, teamwork markedly improved among high-level decision-makers and sets of competencies identified to lead an organizational culture change.
