Overview: This paper discusses the myths of the mega deals in the outsourcing industry. Because of the size and/or scope, mega deals magnify the importance of some of the principles that apply to deals of any size. They also amplify the need for an approach that anticipates and accounts for the advantages and disadvantages involved. The number of mega-deal transactions which Technology Partners International (TPI) was advising on at the end of 2004, five, is almost twice the number at the end of 2003, three. This, and the picture of a general, overall historical increase in mega deals, leads us to believe that mega deal strength would hold up in upcoming quarters. They are a steady, not a short-lived, nor a dying aspect of outsourcing.
