Overview: The London Stock Exchange, Europe's leading exchange and the third largest in the world, moved from floor to electronic trading in an operation known as the "Big Bang." To support this move, the biggest change in its history, it installed a substantial IT infrastructure. Exchange wanted to improve the situation by redefining its business relationship with its IT functions, moving from an organization where the delivery of IT was spread across a number of disparate groups to one where services were aligned with business needs. Accenture assumed responsibility for end-to-end IT operations, including infrastructure and application development and maintenance.
