Overview: AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting Servers) has served as the cornerstone of network security. AAA solutions have been deployed by most organizations to secure networks and guarantee secure information access to employees, contractors, customers and business partners. Unfortunately, the proliferation of worms and viruses and the continuous surge in software vulnerabilities that these viruses can exploit, have added a new dimension in network authentication and access control. In fact, worms have exploited fully authenticated and authorized clients and launched massive attacks on networks resulting in severe financial losses. Network Access Management (NAM) is the new approach to extend AAA-based solutions to protect organizations from recent security threats.
