Overview: The off-balance-sheet corporate accounting misdeeds of Enron, Worldcom, and other companies during the 1990s were pivotal events that set the stage for SEC and investor outrage and the passage of H.R. 3763, also known as the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act of 2002.
