Overview: Business enterprises have always had to manage risks. In this world, though, where close governmental, regulatory and marketplace scrutiny rules; where business complexity grows; and where terrorism, cyber attacks and other new threats continue to emerge; the need for comprehensive risk management has become more vital than ever. This paper depicts that internal auditors are playing important roles in Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and can also do a lot to help their organizations incorporate comprehensive risk management programs. It provides views from three experts on the new Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework and internal audit's role in ERM programs.
