Overview: In 2004, the North American market for retail automation/POS equipment exceeded $2.5 billion, while the European market exceeded $2.2 billion. The largest percentage of revenues was derived from POS terminal/workstation hardware shipments. In each region, electronic article surveillance equipment comprises nearly 20%, while POS receipt printers netted nearly 10% of revenues. Largely due to their limited appeal outside of the grocery/supermarket vertical market, electronic shelf labels (ESLs) shipments comprise the smallest percentage of overall hardware revenues. This white paper presents a few of the top-level findings from the report, Retail Automation Equipment: North American and European Vertical Market Analysis.
