Overview: Auditors and tax advisors engaged by a hedge fund play a pivotal role throughout the life of the fund. Pure "auditing" services are normally only one of the roles played by the firm of auditors and tax advisors (collectively referred to as auditors throughout this article). This article provides an overview of the various roles that auditors play in the hedge funds industry, and also explores some of the key issues that they generally advise on. Their role can be categorized into either Pre-Launch or Post-Launch, but in practice there are many areas of overlap due to a constantly changing environment.
