Overview: In May 2001, the hedge fund's IT department decided to upgrade to Windows 2000 servers running Exchange 2000 for their e-mail system. As part of the upgrade, they wanted a way to eliminate the 2-5 hours per month of downtime they were experiencing with their existing Windows NT servers. The hedge fund needed a simple, affordable solution that would deliver continuous service and free IT staff from the burden of unplanned downtime.
