Overview: ISA has launched the SP99 standards committee to address the needs of cyber security in the manufacturing and control systems environment. Although the committee has a sense of urgency, the consensus standards setting process is time consuming. Manufacturers need to be evaluating their cyber security now. This paper offers some tips on what can be done while tracking the progress of the SP99 committee.
