Overview: Though the US Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) receives the most attention, it is only one of a host of compliance initiatives to improve internal controls for corporate governance. IT professionals who understand COSO and COBIT will have a generally accepted framework with which to approach compliance (for more information on COSO and COBIT, see the section on Compliance Standards").
