Overview: Twenty years ago, less than half of the Australian workforce participated in superannuation (or pension) plans. Membership was concentrated in the public sector and amongst white-collar workers. Defined benefit (DB) plans held most of these assets. In addition, individual members now have much greater control over their retirement assets, and the roles and influence of employers and trustees are declining. The report covers: the future of the global pension industry from the Australian experience, South Korea corporate pension's developments UK pensions and the pension news flash.
