Overview: With environmental concerns a priority, many countries require automobile manufacturers to keep track of all materials used in production. Lack of a standard, however, made information exchange difficult. EDS stepped up to the plate, creating a materials management system accessible across the supply chain - and across the globe. It designed an International Materials Data System (IMDS) that allows information about the materials used in production to be procured from every vendor. A standardized database and Web-based access provide high-speed operations, data security, low implementation risks and system use without additional investment.
