Overview: Quality is a more complicated term than it appears. It seems that every quality expert defines quality somewhat differently, and there are a variety of perspectives that can be taken in defining quality (for example, customer's perspective, specification-based perspective). The purpose of this article is to discuss the transcendent approach to thinking about quality. Drawing from Plato's divided line model, this article develops the approach to quality that is best suited for developing radical innovations.
