Overview: Located in Irving, Texas, VHA is an alliance of not-for-profit health organizations. VHA housed its data on four database applications but found supporting these disparate technologies to be a challenge. In addition, licensing for the various software applications proved costly. As part of a large consolidation effort, VHA moved its PeopleSoft application from a UNIX system running an Oracle database to Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft SQL Server 2000. This resulted in a simplified management and support.
