Overview: The Veterans Healthcare System serves the needs of America's veterans by providing primary care, specialized care, and related medical and social support services. The VA Hospital in Portland, OR wanted to improve care for its diabetic patients with more flexible care options for both physicians and their patients. Working with CTA Development, the VA developed a solution based on the Microsoft Windows Mobile software for Pocket PC that is expected to improve patient care. Thus it could meet stringent HIPAA requirements for security and handle patient medical data reliably.
